Church Building in Kenya: 7 Reasons This Faith Journey Inspires Mission Safaris

The story of this church is one of hope, patience, and transformation. In the very beginning, the congregation had no building at all. Every Sunday, men, women, and children would gather under the shade of a big tree to pray and listen to the word of God. When the sun was too hot, people would shift around to look for shade, and whenever it rained, the service had to stop. Despite these challenges, the believers remained faithful and continued to meet, showing how strong their faith was even without walls around them.
The First Steps of Church Building in Kenya

With time and through the support of friends and well-wishers, the congregation was able to put up their very first structure. It was a simple shelter made of timber and iron sheets—a far cry from a permanent church, but for the people, it was a great step forward. For the first time, they could worship without worrying about the scorching sun or heavy rains.

During this stage, a small iron sheet toilet was also built, which may seem basic. But for the community, it meant dignity and convenience during worship gatherings.
Growth and the Vision for Lasting Church Building
As the years passed, the church continued to grow both in numbers and in strength. The small temporary structure could no longer serve the growing congregation, and the dream of building something more permanent was born. Today, that dream is slowly coming true. The church is now putting up a strong building made of concrete blocks a structure that will last for generations and provide a safe, welcoming space for worshippers.

The group of missionaries who partnered in this project traveled to Kenya to witness the progress firsthand. While here, Mission Tour and Travel also organized a special safari experience tailored for them. It was a time of refreshment and discovery—after seeing the incredible impact of their support on the church community, they also had the chance to enjoy Kenya’s breathtaking wildlife, landscapes, and culture.

Looking back, the progress is inspiring: from worshipping under a tree, to a simple iron sheet shelter, to now building a lasting church of stone and concrete. Every stage has been made possible by the generosity of donors and the determination of the congregation. This journey shows what faith can do when people come together. But the journey is not yet complete.
