Every night in Arusha, Tanzania, more than 60 children lay their heads down to sleep in a modest three-bedroom home. Five or six children share some beds. Space is limited. Privacy is almost nonexistent. Mattresses are worn, and every available corner is used to make room for another child to rest. Yet every morning, those same children wake up knowing they are loved. That love comes from one remarkable woman, Reverend Sister Martha Mganga.
A Home Built on Compassion
Born with albinism herself, Sister Martha understands the fear, rejection, and discrimination that many children with albinism experience.
For decades, she has opened not only her heart but also her home to children who have nowhere else to turn. Many arrive after experiencing abandonment, neglect, or rejection because of harmful myths surrounding albinism. Others come from families unable to provide the specialized care they need.
What began as one woman’s response to God’s calling has grown into Peacemakers for Albinism and Community (PAC), a ministry dedicated to protecting, educating, and restoring hope to children living with albinism.
But today, the need has grown far beyond the space available.
When Love Outgrows the House
Imagine over 60 children living together in a house with only three bedrooms.
Imagine six children sharing a single bed.
Imagine trying to provide safety, education, meals, medical care, encouragement, and love for every child while working with limited resources.
This is the daily reality Sister Martha faithfully embraces. Despite the overcrowding, she refuses to turn her back on children who need a safe place to belong. Her home has become more than a shelter; it has become a family.
Why This Matters
Children with albinism in parts of East Africa continue to face unique challenges. Many experience discrimination because of myths and misconceptions surrounding albinism. Some struggle to access education. Others need ongoing skin protection, medical care, and visual support.
Above all, every child deserves to know they are valued, protected, and created in the image of God. Organizations like Peacemakers for Albinism and Community are working tirelessly to change this story through education, healthcare, advocacy, family support, and Christ-centered care.
But they cannot do it alone.

Mission Program Registration: US$TBD per participant
The registration fee helps cover the planning, coordination, transportation, accommodation, and logistics required to facilitate a meaningful mission experience. Participants also have opportunities to contribute additional resources or support projects identified by Sister Martha and her team.
